CSA Basket

Here's our latest produce basket from Sugarfoot Organic Farms. Keeping up with our produce takes some work, but it's totally worth it. I love getting super-fresh, local, organic, and seasonal foods. Some of the varieties just can't be found in the grocery stores, and there's really no comparison in taste or quality. This week we received butternut squash, onions, potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, green beans, okra, and eggplant. Our fruit/nut share is green peanuts. Total cost is $41.95 per week.

We stopped eating legumes a while back, but, the peanuts will not be wasted in this house. I really do love peanut butter and have been wanting some, so I'm taking this opportunity to make my first homemade peanut butter. I have shelled and soaked the peanuts, and they are currently drying in the oven. Then I'll roast them a bit and attempt to make the butter. I will post if it turns out well.
