Vitacost Shipment

Last week, I told you about my Vitacost order I'd placed and how excited I was to find a good deal on super-healthy foods. My shipment arrived today, everything securely packed. I don't know how the dark chocolate didn't melt, but I'm glad it didn't! I was a little nervous about ordering that large tub of coconut oil, since we've never bought this brand before. And since it had really good reviews, I thought we'd try it. We have tested and approved! It tastes just as good, if not better than our current brand. This one is $0.39/oz, where the other was $0.53/oz. This is a significant savings of $7.66 over 54 oz! We will def be ordering this one again. Again, if anyone is interested in placing an order with Vitacost, please use my referral link: http://www.vitacost.com/Referee?wlsrc=rsReferral&ReferralCode=3503651
You will receive a coupon code via e-mail for $10 off your first order and free shipping on orders $49+. Thanks!

We also tasted the sea salt. It's finely ground and not too strong. I've been looking for pink salt because pink indicates unrefined salt. The problem with white salt (sea or not) is that it's been highly processed, stripped of most or all nutrients, and then synthetic nutrients are added back. Asides from the iodine, I don't really see anything good about white salt. This one contains only minimal iodine, but it does contain other minerals and trace elements as well. It is essentially raw, and therefore, truly natural. We will be sure to try and get iodine through foods such as seafood and pastured eggs as well.

I am excited to experiment with the cacao powder as well. It is also raw and fermented (which helps support healthy gut flora). It is a natural source of antioxidants and a good source of dietary fiber. It is known as one of the highest dietary sources of magnesium, flavanols, and polyphenols. This one is unsweetened and cold-pressed. Suggested uses from the package are: desserts and baking, sauces and spreads, smoothies and beverages. I'm seeing some good hot cocoa in our near future!

Stay tuned to find out the verdict on the dark chocolate, I'm sure it will be great.

As for the soap, not sure what I'm gonna do with that. Lately, it seems like our Softsoap hand soap is really strong to me. I can tell when the rest of the family has just washed their hands with it...I can smell it six feet away, and I ask them to rinse again! I just don't think that much fragrance is necessary. Maybe I'll look up some homemade hand soap recipes. If anyone has one already, please leave a comment below. Thank you!
