Costco Trip & Thanksgiving Menu

My latest Costco trip included some basics and a few extras for Thanksgiving cooking. I plan on making Baked Brussels Sprouts, Sausage Stuffing and Sweet Potato Casserole (both recipes found here), and Cranberry Sauce. My family always has a large get-together where everyone brings a few dishes. Keith and I decided to make all our dishes just like we would at home because we want to have plenty of good food to eat without sugar/wheat hangovers (yes, those are very real in our house!). I'm excited that a few other members of our family will also be making Paleo-friendly foods! So here's what we bought:

  • Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage 2.4 lb $6.34 sale
  • Avocados* 6 ct $4.79
  • Sweet Italian Sausage 6 lb $13.99
  • Brussels Sprouts 2 lb $3.99
  • Lemons 5 lb $6.99
  • Cinnamon 10 oz $2.59
  • Sweet Potatoes* 10 lb $6.99 (better price at Kroger this week @ .49/ lb)
  • Ground Beef 88% 5.6 lb $16.80
  • Organic Gala Apples** 5.5 lb $8.99
  • Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil 54 oz $15.99 each
  • Bacon 4 lb $11.99 ea
  • Bananas 3 lb $1.39
  • White Vinegar 5 L $2.89
  • Pecans 2 lb $12.99
  • Organic Frozen Blueberries** 3 lb $11.59
  • Raw Almonds 3 lb $12.79
  • Mushrooms* 24 oz $3.79
Total Cost: $174.83

* Avocados, Sweet Potatoes, and Mushrooms are Clean 15 items, so buying these conventionally can help save money without being exposed to high levels of pesticides.

** Apples are #1 on the Dirty Dozen list (most contaminated crop) so always buy these organic! Blueberries are #10 on the Dirty Dozen list, so buy these organically as well.
